Since the announcement of her appointment as Adelphi’s 10th president in December, Dr. Christine M. Riordan has been meeting and talking with Adelphi stakeholders to better understand the unique attributes of the University and to define the Adelphi Advantage. This process will be accelerated with the launch of a 100-Day Listening Tour on July 20, 2015. We invite you to share your thoughts about the advantages of an Adelphi education. As we work together to define Adelphi as a model metropolitan university, this is the time to think big.
People here really care and want to see you succeed.
Adelphi is known for offering a personalized education, one in which students can discover and hone their passions and learn to pursue them with excellence.

Around the World
Adelphi students gain global experiences and perspectives through semester-long programs and short-term, specialized faculty-led trips.
The faculty is the heart of any university.
They’re researchers, writers, artists and innovators who actively contribute to their fields. They’re Guggenheim Fellows and Fulbright Scholars. They win grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and National Institutes of Health. They’re published authors and Pulitzer Prize winners. They are sought-after speakers at conferences from Cairo, Egypt, to Darwin, Australia to right here at home in New York City.
They regularly collaborate with students in their research, and new ways of teaching, sparked by scholarship. In class, they have one focus: you. We believe that access fuels success.
Pride in Adelphi suffuses our community—from our award-winning student and faculty scholars to the 385 student-athletes who compete in the prestigious Northeast-10 division to the students, faculty and administrators who spearhead Adelphi’s community involvement. Among our more than 90,000 alumni are leaders in virtually every field who invest their time and resources in strengthening the University and its network.
It is a great time to say we are #proudtobeapanther.
Engagement with Our Community
A commitment to strong community connections has earned the University the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching’s prestigious Community Engagement Classification in 2010, an honor given to only 10 institutions of higher education in New York State. This classification reflects the University’s purposeful efforts to make community engagement a defining feature of Adelphi. Its initiatives in this area epitomize Adelphi’s simultaneous commitment to its core founding values and to the rapidly changing local, national and global communities it serves.
For us, going green is more than a bumper sticker, it’s how we envision the world. A leader in the field of energy conservation and environmentally sensitive practices, Adelphi teaches by example. The University and its faculty members are at the forefront of developing programs and policies that will ensure an environmentally friendly and fuel efficient environment. The University is committed to promoting academic work and administrative initiatives that protect and preserve the environment.
With many undergraduate degrees, advanced degrees, dual and joint program degrees and top-notch professors, we offer you the knowledge you’ll need and the wisdom to know how to best apply it. Acquire the knowledge and tools to drive lifelong careers. Discover your passion.
At Adelphi, students gain the skills, knowledge and exposure to thrive as professionals and active citizens in an interconnected and fast-paced global society. Our programs in the arts and humanities form the foundation of an Adelphi education and inspire creativity and the critical exploration of ideas.
Working alongside our distinguished science faculty in state-of-the-art labs, undergraduate and graduate science students are creating new knowledge and making discoveries that will power our regional and national economy.
As we distinguish ourselves as a major metropolitan university, one that other institutions will be inspired by and government, corporations and healthcare and nonprofit organizations will turn to as a strong partner, our professional schools and programs will be an increasingly important source of the next generation of leaders and ideas.
